Small Practitioners Peer Group: AI Tooling Landscape
-
Online
0.00 Credits
If you're building a firm, you're already resilient and innovative. Expand what's possible by collaborating and providing mutual support to other professionals with their own practices, like you. The Small Practitioners Peer Group taps into that energy. Join fellow leaders of firms with 30 or fewer employees to talk in a safe environment. Roundtable conversations focus on key business issues to instigate insight, transform pain points, and create dynamic solutions — all while expanding professional networks. These sessions are designed and led by peers to tap into the potential of other eager leaders. This group's topic will be the AI tooling landscape, and it will be lead and sponsored by Aqqrue. This interactive session will explore the rapidly evolving AI landscape for small firms and sole practitioners. Rather than focusing on hype, we'll discuss where AI is delivering real value today, where it still falls short, and how the technology is expected to shape the profession over the next decade.Designed as a peer-to-peer discussion rather than a traditional presentation, participants will share their experiences, compare what has worked in practice, and candidly discuss what has not. Moderated by the founders of Aqqure, this session offers an opportunity to learn from fellow practitioners, exchange ideas and gain practical insights into leveraging AI effectively in a small firm environment. Online

Member Price: $99
Managing a strong network is one of the most important things you can do to grow professionally. Yet despite its importance, maintaining an effective network is often not taught in undergraduate and graduate schools. The good news is that managing and growing a network is easier than it sounds. In fact, most professionals have some level of basic networking skills simply from helping someone find a job, attending an industry conference, or seeking professional connections through social media. Effective networking involves more than simply collecting contacts. Strong networks should be relevant to your career and consist of people you trust. Personal networks are just as important as professional networks and the two often overlap. In this course, we explore ways to strengthen and grow networks by examining proven strategies that have helped individuals meet their personal and professional goals. Delivery Method: Individual webcastCPE Credit: 2Program Level: BasicThis course is being offered by a learning partner. You may access the Surgent platform through the My CPE page on vscpa.com after purchase.

VSCPA Virtual Town Hall Series
Online
1.00 Credits
In this special Virtual VSCPA Town Hall, we're covering two topics: A Professional Issues Update from VSCPA leadership and AI in Tax.Session 1: VSCPA Professional Issues Update The accounting profession continues to evolve at a rapid pace — shaped by workforce and pipeline challenges, emerging technologies, regulatory and legislative changes, shifting business models, and rising expectations of CPAs. In this 25-minute session, you'll receive a timely update on the key trends, issues and initiatives impacting the profession nationally and within the VSCPA, along with insights into what these changes mean for the future of the profession. Session 2: Old Rules, New Robots: OPR Alert 2026-19 and AI in Tax Practice The IRS Office of Professional Responsibility's Alert 2026-19 (June 2026) is the agency's first formal guidance on AI in federal tax practice, and its message is simple: the old rules apply to the new technology. This 25-minute session walks through how the alert maps Circular 230's core duties — due diligence, competence, written advice, fees and confidentiality — onto AI-assisted work, along with the real-world sanctions that prompted it, from fabricated citations to a partially refunded government engagement. You'll leave with a practical checklist for using AI without creating an ethics problem: what to verify, what to disclose, what never to upload and what firm policies OPR now expects. Learning Objectives: Explain OPR Alert 2026-19 and its application of existing Circular 230 duties to AI-assisted tax work. Identify the highest-risk AI practices — unverified citations, client data in public tools, billing for time AI saved — and the sanctions practitioners have already faced. Apply OPR's best practices to your own workflow, from verification protocols to firm-level AI policies. VSCPA virtual town halls bring together leading experts, thought leaders and VSCPA staff to break down the latest developments shaping the accounting profession. This year, we're providing both in-person half days across the state and easy, one-hour online sessions so you can get the education you need in the format you want. From legislation and regulatory shifts to emerging trends and critical skill updates, these dynamic sessions will keep you informed, engaged and ready to navigate what's next. Plus, you'll earn free professional education while gaining the knowledge and strategies you need to stay ahead of the curve. Can't make this one? Want to join an in-person town hall?
